Rainbow Nursery School
This project showcases a nursery school website design in Cape Town, created to modernise the online presence of Rainbow Nursery School and better support parent enquiries. The school is a long-established Waldorf-inspired playgroup in Mowbray, offering a gentle, home-based learning environment for young children.
Imago Visual partnered with the school to rebuild their website from the ground up, transforming an outdated site into a warm, accessible and trustworthy digital home that reflects the ethos and care of the school itself.
The project required more than a visual refresh. The new website needed to clearly communicate the philosophy of Waldorf early childhood education, present practical information in a simple and reassuring way, and provide an easy, welcoming path for prospective parents to get in touch, all while remaining sensitive to privacy and safeguarding considerations.

Rainbow Nursery School’s previous website no longer reflected the warmth, professionalism or clarity of the real-world environment. Content had accumulated over many years, resulting in mixed messaging, inconsistent structure and an outdated design that made it difficult for parents to quickly understand what the school offered.
The project needed to:
- Deliver a fresh, modern look while staying true to the gentle Waldorf character
- Restructure and simplify content to improve clarity and usability
- Clearly present the school’s philosophy, daily rhythm and practical information
- Showcase the environment through carefully curated photography
- Make it simple for parents to enquire or arrange a visit
- Improve performance, accessibility and search visibility
- Ensure the privacy of children and families was protected throughout the site
The brief required a thoughtful, human-centred approach that balanced professional design with the personal, community-focused nature of the school.
What we did
- Planned and executed a full website redesign and rebuild, replacing the old structure with a clear, parent-focused information architecture.
- Designed and developed a custom WordPress and Elementor Pro website, creating a calm and accessible interface aligned to Waldorf values and early childhood education principles.
- Refined the visual presentation through careful typography selection, colour palette development and layout design to create a warm, cohesive brand expression.
- Curated, enhanced and optimised a mix of existing client-supplied photography to better showcase the school environment and daily activities.
- Restructured core content into logical sections — About, Daily Rhythm, Gallery and Practical Information — improving navigation and understanding.
- Implemented a comprehensive on-page SEO strategy using RankMath, including keyword optimisation, metadata, and structured content across all pages.
- Developed consistent image naming and metadata conventions to improve accessibility, search visibility and long-term content management.
- Integrated Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Search Console for performance tracking and ongoing insights.
- Implemented Cloudflare security and performance optimisation to ensure fast, reliable delivery across devices.
- Built a streamlined, user-friendly contact experience with spam protection and lead tracking to support enquiries and visits.
