The Irma Stern Museum: Preserving Artistic Legacy through Photography and Design
The Irma Stern Museum, housed within the University of Cape Town, celebrates the artistic achievements of Irma Stern, a prominent figure in South African modern art. Tasked with photographing and reproducing Stern’s high-value artworks, Imago Visual also designed and managed the print production of educational banners to enhance the museum’s exhibitions.

Challenge
The challenge was to accurately capture the essence of Irma Stern’s paintings through photography and ensure that the banner designs were both informative and aesthetically pleasing, complementing the museum’s unique environment.
What we did
- Employed state-of-the-art photographic techniques to produce high-resolution images that faithfully replicated the original artworks’ vibrant colours and intricate details.
- Created roll-up banners that not only conveyed key information but also harmonised with the museum’s artistic theme, enhancing the overall visitor experience.
- Oversaw the entire printing process to ensure that all materials were produced to the highest quality standards, from digital proofing to the final print.
